I’ll be in Las Vegas from late evening on Thursday the 29th until afternoon on Monday, April 2nd. Staying at the Excalibur, some other friends will be in town but I may not want to spend every waking moment with all of them.

Anything car related happening? I’ll be without vehicle, but can probably figure something out.

The only thing I did there was the racing experiences, but they are pretty pricey. Cost me 800 CAD to drive 3 cars (Cayman, 911, Corvette Z06) around the track.

If you wanna check out a completely radical zone—- Go for a hike at Red Rocks Canyon just outside town—- There’s a loop road you can drive, one of the last pullouts/trailheads is called Pine Creek Canyon— Go hike up it— total dream world of magic style...

Waterfalls, old-growth ponderosas, 1000 ft cliffs hemming you in, cool pools... it’s totally amazing.. and like 20 min from the strip...

You will need a car though.......

^this^ — my first trip to Vegas was a business trip, by myself. I couldn’t stand being on the strip alone, but someone tipped me off to Red Rocks and it was a great hike.

I do a lot of climbing- and red rocks is one of the most amazing places ever... it’s a shame it’s minutes from vegas though.......

But if you’re gonna be in that shithole.....

I’ve been down there about 6 weeks in the last year. I have zip, zero, zilch interest in large crowds, or gambling, but I’ve been fortunate enough to have my personal vehicle. There are free outdoor shooting ranges just south of the city if you’re into that sort of thing, Hoover Dam, Zion is just a few hours away as is the Grand Canyon, a few stretches of Route 66, and any time you show up at the speedway complex, there’s something going on, even if it’s just watching other people race supercars. Also, the Carol Shelby museum which I have yet to visit.

No real interest in renting a car, and I can shoot at home any time I want. I spent a week there in September and did the dam, the grand canyon, and the speedway. Was hoping for more of a local car meet or something.

Thanks though!

Make sure you check out the auto museum located above the Linq. There’s generally nobody there during the day, and tons of cool and rare cars to see.

Ooh, that’s one I haven’t heard of. Thanks for the tip!
